MCG 5200 — WirelessHART Gateway

Overview

MCG 5200

Terminal engineers, operators, automation engineers, asset-management teams, and compliance personnel need a secure, scalable, and interoperable way to bring WirelessHART field data into SCADA, DCS, and inventory-management systems. For them, the MCG 5200 provides a high-capacity, browser-configurable gateway that supports up to 250 WirelessHART devices.

The gateway converts field measurements—including level, temperature, BS&W, discrete alarms, vent events, and device diagnostics—into host-readable Modbus (RTU/TCP) or HART over RS-485 or Ethernet. With built-in security, complete mesh-network visibility, and configurable register mapping, the MCG 5200 gives operators the insight and control required to reduce downtime, improve reliability, and protect revenue.

Unlike older gateways with limited diagnostic access or rigid configuration options, the MCG 5200 provides full wireless-network transparency, including join status, signal strength, device warnings, and path reliability—accessible through a secure browser, DTM/DD, or CSV-based register-mapping tools. Support for multiple antenna options, dual host interfaces, and future-ready configuration tools makes it a foundational component for long-term wireless expansion across tank farms, terminals, refineries, and industrial facilities.

Up to 250 devices, allowing large tank farms and terminals to scale wireless networks without additional gateways.
Any PLC, DCS, SCADA, or inventory system that supports Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, or HART.
The MCG 5200 secures communication through several layers: it uses robust encryption for all wireless messages, ensuring data integrity. Additionally, it implements host authentication and only allows authorized hosts to access readable data, hiding sensitive network details from external listeners.
The gateway exposes full mesh-network diagnostics, device diagnostic data, and network quality indicators (like signal strength and path reliability) directly to the host system. This allows maintenance teams to monitor the health of the wireless network and individual field devices remotely, enabling proactive maintenance before a communication failure occurs.
Yes. The MCG 5200 is designed for maximum flexibility, offering both an RS-485 interface (supporting legacy protocols like Modbus RTU) and an Ethernet interface (supporting modern protocols like Modbus TCP). This dual-interface capability ensures it can fit seamlessly into any existing or new control system architecture.
Through a secure web interface, PACTware DTM/DD, or CSV-based register mapping for fast commissioning and bulk updates.
Yes—BS&W, temperature, level, discrete alarms, and full PV/SV/TV data are all mapped into host-readable registers.
